Is keeping my registry clean really that important?
The more you use your computer, the more your registry file fills up. If you don't do anything, your computer's performance and speed will suffer over time. Remember the old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?" It is absolutely a true statement when it comes to your registry. Trying to fix registry problems once they occur is always more difficult than preventing them from happening.
Many users state that they don't use their computers enough to cause problems in the registry. They don't realize that even average use can have significant impact.
Some computer uses that can cause registry issues include:
- you frequently install or uninstall programs
- you delete software that was never really fully "uninstalled"
- you have embedded Spyware or third party programs that revive themselves with each boot
- you have gone through a hardware install/uninstall
- you have unused but undeleted drivers on your system
Remember that new computers don't demonstrate issues, but as you use your computer, the registry file grows larger and larger with each change that you make. Don't wait for your computer to bog down or crash. Keep your registry clean and performing at it's peak.
